Misfortune's Fortune Chapter 1

It was an odd feeling being thrown 20 feet by a car. The woman lay in a near-crumpled heap, Japanese rock music still echoing from the headphones near her fallen frame. She wondered dimly if the person she had pulled out of the way of the car was okay. She felt a pair of arms close around her, dragging her upward slightly onto something warm. Her mind felt foggy from the pain centered across the middle of her body as someone pulled her head to one side. A pair of deep, blue eyes stared into hers for a while, lips forming foreign words and faint Japanese reached her ears. Her eyes closed for a second, attempting to translate the language into English in her head- winding up with only “Stay awake!” The rest of his words were a blur to her ears and her eyes flickered open again, emerald eyes staring up at the man for a second as he turned his head to call to someone, auburn locks slightly disheveled on his head. Her eyes wandered back downwards and watched the pool of blood slowly gather around her body, more on the right side than left.   Another flurry of words translated, “Call an ambulance!” as she moved her hand from her side to see the huge gash torn in her side, almost like a knife had torn across her. She shivered suddenly, pain hitting her full force now along with the gentle scent of what she assumed was the man’s cologne… or perfume, considering the scent and strength. She felt the air escaping from her right lung, whistling slightly with a couple of bubbles appearing. She grabbed the person’s leg beneath her- pain in control of her body- and her nails dug into the fabric. His eyes looked back at her as a few more words were translated, “Hold on!” Someone else screamed something vulgar about late ambulances in half-English and the woman fully took in the man holding her from the ground. Thoughts distantly reached her mind that she recognized him and should know who he was. Silence felt like it was closing from all sides as she stared into his eyes, the man still speaking, and her mind barely able to translate the words “Hold on… The ambulance is coming… Stay awake… hold on… hold on.” She felt her eyes slowly flicker shut, heart thumping rapidly- and skipping a beat here and there.
“Hold on…” His voice wrapped around her as her heart began to slow, breathing following suit before another voice broke in.
“Gacchan- you’re bleeding…” was translated dimly in her mind.
“I’m fine…” were the last words that her mind translated before it turned completely into gibberish for her ears. Her breathing slowed even more and she felt her heart slowing more. She shivered as her mind fell away from the world- heart skipping a great many beats before seizing to a halt, his voice still echoing around her. Her breath came raggedly one time, turned gasping a second before halting as well while her body shivered one last time. She dully sensed movement around her as it all faded away completely now before a feeling as if she was set on fire lit her chest up and her body jerked upwards from something flying through her limbs it felt like.
She took in a gasping heave of air, her heart thumping again in her chest. Her consciousness faded out and when it came back in, she had a sense of movement- like of that in a rapidly moving vehicle. There was a dull ache in her arm and roaring pains in her chest and side now. Japanese echoed every once in a while off the walls nearby and her mind didn’t even attempt to translate it for her, instead reasoning that it was better to fall unconscious now and she promptly complied- the world around her fading away quickly.
-----------------------------------------------------------
She could sense herself coming awake gradually and distantly- the throbbing in her side distant for a time as a sound drifted into her consciousness.
‘A violin? I must be dreaming…’ She thought as the sound weaved through her thoughts, playing a mildly familiar rhythm as her dulled mind tried to figure out what it was. The sound suddenly broke away, fading into nothing quickly and there was a long pause before someone spoke in Japanese. Her mind worked hard to translate it, taking a good minute.
“Beautiful job You… I believe we will be playing Mizèrable since you’ve been practicing hard for it…” There was an extremely long pause as she felt herself begin to fade from her state of half-consciousness, feeling as if she hadn’t heard right.
-----------------------------------------------------------
She felt herself come around faster this time as if expecting to hear something more, knowing who exactly had seemed to be in the room based on the last conversation heard. Silence closed in from all sides- quickly broken though by the beep of a heart monitor nearby, going steadily along. Her eyelids flickered as she attempted to open them but they stayed shut. Someone gently touched her arm, speaking softly in Japanese and her mind worked to translate it as quick as it could.
“You’re awake, aren’t you?” She quickly surmised that he said and gave a quick nod, not trusting her voice to speak. Her head felt like it was spinning out of control suddenly and a low moan broke forth from her throat. He spoke again, tone slightly harsher- her mind worked a little faster translating around the spinning, “Do not try that again- you don’t need to move.” She made a noise that sounded as if she agreed with him and there was a slight pause before he spoke again and her mind raced to translate. “What is your name?” She struggled for a second with her voice before attempting to answer.
“… Miyu… Miyu Alkit…” Her voice cracked slightly. There was a slight pause as her voice echoed slightly across the room, allowing her to hear her awful accent at the moment- making her wince slightly. He spoke again as it died away, her mind scrambling again to translate.
“You’re American?” She gave a slight nod, head spinning quickly afterwards again. Another long pause as she began to drift away again, her pain slowly shoved away. Suddenly he spoke again in clear English, “Thank you…” softly as if he sensed her fading away again. She allowed a smile to twitch her lips upwards before it faded quickly away.
-----------------------------------------------------------
A sharp pain ran through her arm, pulling her from a blissful unconsciousness into her painful wakefulness. There was a pause as her eyes flickered slightly and she felt the needle slide back out from her skin, wincing slightly. There was another slight pause before a slightly accusatory voice spoke and her mind worked faster at translating it.
“Did you wake her up with pain?” There was an extremely long pause and Miyu almost felt like laughing at the mental image she got suddenly before he spoke.
“…Yes, I pinched her awake…” There was a very slight pause before footsteps just about ran out of the room and Miyu gave a slight snort of laughter, wincing in pain afterwards. He spoke again, seeming as if half to himself, “Some people don’t know how to take a joke…” Miyu felt herself drifting away, the pain fading away.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Two voices talking drug her awake partially again as she felt more refreshed, less tired. The words were translated almost half-unconsciously for her mind as the conversation became clear.
“…why the hell did you do that?” the first voice was unfamiliar to her ears for the most part but Miyu faintly recalled it shouting ugly things about an ambulance sometime earlier.
“We’ve been through this already…” The second voice- the one Miyu was used to hearing- moaned.
“Yes, but I want to know why you found it necessary to make fun of the nurse after she asked you such a serious question.” The first voice snapped back quickly. “Because of that, you’ve gotten me in trouble with my band, and all others involved, to watch over a girl!” Miyu could almost see the interaction- in a general sense- between the two during a long silence. Suddenly the second man spoke very softly.
“…She saved my life…” The room promptly fell back into silence except for the pulsing beat of the heart monitor. Miyu began to let her eyes flicker open but was hit with the bright light of the room, causing her to squeeze them tightly back together, a low moan of pain escaping her lips. There was a rush of moving clothing from the direction of the two voices and an overhead light flicked off- the light fading away with a loud complaint.
“Hey! What the hell!” The less familiar voice shouted.
“You’ve been outvoted on the lights…” The other replied, a hint of amusement in his voice.
“By who?” There was a bit more movement and someone touched Miyu’s arm.
“Awake again I see…” Miyu gave a slight nod but the world did not spin violently this time, simply moved a little.
“Hey, wait a second!” There was a bit of movement again and a grunt before Miyu’s eyes attempted to open again. She found her eyes meeting with a pair of extremely dark brown ones- the other person looking slightly surprised but still a little annoyed. Her eyes looked over him, widening in surprise as she recognized him before flicking over to the second person who was letting their arm fall from where they had obviously been elbowed by the first. Her eyes widened again as she found herself staring into a pair of deep blue eyes, recognizing the person as well. “She is awake this time Gacchan…” The shorter shot at the other before adding on, “And for being American, she seems to recognize us very well…” Miyu felt her still wide eyes dart between the two for a bit as she nodded slightly. She attempted to bring order to her mind and shut her eyes, licking her lips before attempting to speak.
“Y-You’re Hyde and… y-you’re Gackt…” Miyu confirmed, looking at the two in turn and Hyde gave a slight smile at her before her next statement, “B-but why are you here? A-all I did was pull s-someone out of a car’s path…” Both Japanese music stars looked a little surprised.
“You mean you don’t know who you pulled out of the way?” Gackt questioned, eyeing her curiously and she shook her head.
“No… I-I just saw someone who needed help…” Miyu’s eyes flickered shut again and she licked her dry lips as she attempted to keep her focus.
“Well you pulled Gacchan here,” Hyde jerked a thumb in the taller man’s direction, “out of that car’s path.” Miyu’s eyes shot open and she stared wide-eyed at Hyde for a second before her eyes shifted to Gackt who gave a very slight nod.
Miyu closed her eyes again- trying to remember everything- and the faint memory of watching a man with auburn hair pause for a second, lifting the cell phone he had dropped from the ground and the car barreling towards him. Her hands were buried in his shirt in a second and she yanked him back to one side, his greater weight throwing her forward before a solid object slammed into her body- a slicing pain running through her side before-
A hand gently touched her arm again and her eyes shot open to see a concerned looking Gackt above her as Hyde watched for a second.
“Are you all right?” Miyu gave a slight nod to him, swallowing the nauseous feeling that came with the room spinning again and the memory of hitting the ground- everything else between gone.
“Just… r-remembering a little…” She managed out, feeling worn out again as she became more aware of the pain in her body.
“That’s good…” Gackt said calmly- eyes flicking over her frame under the blanket for a second as she shivered slightly. Miyu looked up at him tiredly, worn eyes staring into his for a second before her eyes shut again- attempting to throw the tiredness off. There was a slight pause before Hyde spoke.
“Gacchan- I believe we need to talk sometime later today…” Gackt looked over at the shorter man, only to see a slight smile on Hyde’s face.
“All right…” Gackt looked back at Miyu who was quickly fading to the world as she looked around the room, slightly lost feeling, and glancing up at Gackt occasionally. He paused a second before, “…Rest…” He said, gently touching her forehead with his hand and her eyes closed slightly from the reaction- a slight smile plastered on her lips.
“Yeah…” She muttered in English, causing Hyde to smile slightly again. The world faded away again as her eyes fully closed and her breathing became deeper.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Miyu suddenly came to as if she had just awakened from a nightmare that she could not remember. She stared blankly at the ceiling above her as voices reached her ears.
“…I still can’t believe that… How did she not recognize you until not that long ago?”
  “Hyde-kun…”
  “…What?”
“…Stop repeating yourself and talking so much…”
“… sorry Gacchan…” The short period of silence afterwards allowed Miyu to realize that she was translating completely unconsciously now. She allowed herself a smile at getting back her favored language.
“Where are your parents or relatives?” Gackt’s voice called across the room and Miyu immediately realized that the question was pointed at her. Hyde made a confused noise before Miyu spoke.
“My parents have been dead a long time…” Hyde had given a yelp and a bright light hit her face, “Ow!”
“Hyde-kun!” Gackt reprimanded and the light from the flashlight hit the ceiling.
“Gomen…” The shorter man apologized quickly.
“It-It’s okay… I startled you…” Miyu replied softly, her eyes following the wavering light across the ceiling as they adjusted back to the dark.
“Any relatives then?” Gackt asked- his voice extremely calm.
“…None that care… none that are close to care.”
“Hm…” There was a long silence from the two.
“When did you move here?” Hyde asked suddenly and the light flicked off.
“A good… seven… no wait…” There was a pause as Miyu totaled the years in her mind, “… I think it’s been more towards nine, maybe ten years…”
“Ah… that explains the better Japanese…” He commented before the room fell into silence again as Hyde suddenly considered his words. “I-I mean since earlier when you had that accent…” There was another pause. “…You know, never mind…” Gackt chuckled slightly and there was a soft thump- like pillow being thrown. “That’s not funny Gacchan!” Gackt gave another slight chuckle and the next thump sounded like the pillow being returned to its owner. A yelp from Hyde confirmed that thought. Miyu gave a slight laugh as well. “Ah! Not you too!” Something light hit her face and Hyde cursed loudly, “Where’d it go…” Miyu moved a stiff arm and lifted a rubber band from her neck from where it had fallen off her face.
“You mean the rubber band that just hit me?” There was a pause before Gackt began laughing a little and there was another thump as he was hit with a pillow again. Miyu could see a hand waving in the air to her left suddenly.
“Throw it here…” Hyde called and Miyu smiled slightly as he continued quietly, “I need it to tie my hair back…” Miyu paused for a second before flicking the rubber band as best she could, sending it speeding in the direction of the hand.
  “Th-”
“Itai!” Came a loud yelp and an even louder thump that meant that Hyde had gotten the pillow back again. Gackt began laughing again- holding up the peace sign for Miyu to see.
“Good job Miyu-chan… You hit Hyde-kun in the face…” Miyu felt her face flush at the use of the suffix on her name but she still smiled slightly as his arm disappeared from sight.
“Sorry…” Miyu apologized softly, voice barely heard across the room as Gackt’s laughter died away.
“I’m okay!” Hyde called over to her as her eyelids felt heavy again- letting the world spin around her yet again.
“Good…” Miyu managed out. Miyu fell back into her blissful unconsciousness as a voice spoke again following a long silence.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Miyu slowly came around again and blinked at the sunlight streaming through the window- the pain in her side dull and echoing across her. She turned her head to where the voices had been earlier to find no one there. An odd expression appeared on her face before she gave a slight laugh.
“…Knew it was a dream…” She muttered and stared out the window for a while, watching the clouds blow by and an occasional bird flit by. The door suddenly opened, a blue-clad nurse stepping in with a plate, steam rising from around the edges of the cover over the food. Miyu felt her mouth water a little before going dry again.
“Oh! You’re up!” The nurse exclaimed, giving a still smile as she placed the plate on the tray nearby- Miyu able to make out the drink sitting there as well and licks her lips again. The nurse bowed her head slightly and wandered back out- glancing at the sets of chairs that had been put together and pouting slightly.
“T-thank you…” Miyu called after her and she nodded, going back out the door as Miyu reached over for the drink, wincing at the pain it brought her as her fingers clasped around the rim of the drink. She focused, dragging her arm back upwards to get the lip of the glass to her mouth.
The cool, sweet liquid poured down her throat as she drank huge gulps of it at a time before she ran out. There was a slight pause before she shakily set the glass to one side, pulling the tray towards herself instead- shaking fingers pulling the cover off the food. Miyu smiled as she looked at a plate of curry, licking her lips as she searched for a utensil to eat with. She found a pair of chopsticks to one side and quickly got them pulled apart and dug into her food carefully- shaking fingers barely able to properly hold the set together on a piece of food. She quickly ate, loving the flavor of the food on her tongue.
Chopstick tips suddenly hit the bottom of the plate and Miyu stared down at her now empty plate with a look akin to sadness. The tray was shoved back now as her eyes flickered slightly, feeling worn out and tired again before the door opened again. Her eyes moved to look at the door to see that the nurse was coming back for her plate. Everything was taken away but the drink was replaced with a full one this time- the brown-colored liquid sloshing back and forth in the cup as it was set back down. The nurse left a second time, leaving Miyu alone with her drink before Miyu could thank her again. Miyu quickly grabbed her drink again and drank the better half of it, realizing what kind of drink it was finally.
Miyu set the drink to the side, half of it already gone again as she winced a little at the taste in her mouth. Tea was still not among her favorite beverages, despite the fact that she lived in Japan now… She could still only handle the sweet, sweet kind- definitely not what she had just drank down. A deep sigh escaped her throat as she felt herself drifting back into a sleeping kind of state, the clouds floating by the window being the last thing she saw before her eyes closed.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Miyu came to a while later, quickly realizing that there were no voices talking- only the sound of pacing feet decently far away that faded quickly into the distance. Miyu tentatively let her eyes flicker open and stared up at the dark ceiling again before lifting herself upwards. Her fingers gripped the side railings on the bed like lifelines that were going to keep her alive as she let herself look around the room properly. There was no one else in the room with her, not even another patient. She shut her eyes- suddenly aware of the pain lacing through her from her side. Her eyes fell to the hospital gown she was wearing before twitching over to the IV in her arm. She followed the line upwards to the rack that the bag sat in before glancing over at the bathroom for a second before letting herself fall back onto the bed, cursing softly. She was breathing heavily as her eyes closed tightly, a bit of sweat running from her forehead. The world began to fade away again as distant footsteps echoed for a second before someone touched her arm. The world continued to fade away despite Miyu’s efforts to open her eyes.
-----------------------------------------------------------
She knew she was dreaming as her eyes opened and the sun beamed down on her. Her breath was coming shallowly and a set of faces appeared above her, one male and one female Japanese face- words echoing to her ears distantly.
“Hold on, stay with us…” The woman started but glanced up at someone behind Miyu’s head, “What’s her name?” She sensed something like a person shaking their head above her before a voice now familiar to Miyu’s ears spoke.
“I don’t know- she simply shoved me out of the way…”
“Okay, on three…” Here everything suddenly faded back to Japanese. “Ichi… Ni… San!” She had the vague sensation of upwards motion as her arm slipped from her side, barely scratching the ground before she felt something soft hit her back as compared to whatever fairy hard soft-object she had been laying on earlier. A set of blue eyes flicked in and out of sight for a second as words echoed again- different voices this time and seemingly not pointed at her before a panicked voice cried out.
“Her heart is stopping again!” Miyu felt herself fading out and coming awake slowly.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Miyu blinked slightly, surprised at the bright light streaming through the window. Her eyes narrowed against the brightness before a curtain was pulled over it- making her eyes frantically attempt to adjust back to darkness. She barely could make out the figure that came and stood next to her for a second.
“Awake again I see…” Miyu blinked before realizing who it was. She shut her eyes for a second, opening them to glance at Gackt. “They told me that you were finally awake long enough to eat something yesterday…” Miyu nodded slightly- staring at him for a second before shutting her eyes and smiling slightly.
“…Now I know I’m dreaming…” She trailed off as Gackt stared at her in confusion.
  “What?”
“This absolutely has to be a dream by this point… why else would you still be here?” She managed out, eyes still closed before calling out, “…I want to wake up now…” Gackt suddenly leaned in and Miyu blinked at him for a second before shutting her eyes again, “…definitely a dream…” Her arm was suddenly pinched hard- eliciting a loud yelp from her lips as her eyes shot open to see Gackt’s amused face.
“…still believe it’s a dream?” He asks before pulling back out of sight for a second- followed by a rustling noise.
“N-No… I suppose not…” Miyu rubbed at her arm- wincing slightly at the pain brought to her other from the needle in it. Miyu glanced back up at Gackt as he came back over.
“They say that if you manage to stay awake for a decent length of time that you will be able to leave…” Gackt paused as the door opened and the first nurse Miyu had heard came in- she recognized the voice as the woman started speaking.
“You! You’re not supposed to be in here without supervision!” She yelled and Gackt looked around the room for a second.
“Hyde-kun isn’t here yet?” He gave the nurse an award-winning smile and spoke low, “Hyde-kun must be simply running behind today- he swore to me that he would be here in a matter of minutes…” The nurse gave him a dark look as she came over with Miyu’s tray- fixing to speak again before the door opened a second time and a slightly tousled-looking Hyde stepped inside the room.
“I’m sorry Gacchan- I was caught up in traffic, the…” Hyde trails off upon seeing the nurse standing there, giving her a slightly curious look. The nurse frowned at Gackt before smiling at Miyu and Hyde- rushing back out the door. Hyde looked after her for a second before laughing as he walked over towards Gackt. “Ah Gacchan- you’re so unloved…” He clapped Gackt on the shoulder and the taller man sighed.
“Yes- I know… especially here…” Gackt had a thoughtful look on his face suddenly, “I wonder why that is…” Hyde began laughing again, shaking his head before going over and sitting in a chair- head leaning against the back of the chair tiredly almost. Gackt smiled over towards him before looking at Miyu, “As I said- they are willing to let you go in the next few days if you show a bit of improvement… So…”
“…Get better soon?” Hyde offered and Miyu smiled slightly- feeling distant from the whole situation before looking over at her tray quickly- steam gently wafting up from the edges still before someone’s cell phone went off. Gackt frowned as he pulled the object- it giving a normal ring-tone loudly to the rest of the room- from his pocket and glanced at the number before a second phone went off. Miyu blinked as Hyde frantically pulled his out- attempting to stop it from playing ‘Orenji no Taiyou’- his face turning a touch red as Gackt smiled. The two quickly took their phones into the hall to answer them. Miyu paused a second before pulling the drink from her tray towards her again- quickly stirring in a bit of sugar that was there to make it palatable to her tongue before she quickly drank it down. Gackt came back into the room, putting his phone away as Hyde kept arguing on his phone with the person he was talking to.
“I apologize… It seems that the two of us are needed at a last minute photo shoot… I doubt that we will manage to get back before the visiting hours are over…” He spoke quietly- pulling a jacket from a chair and there was the soft sound of an object hitting the ground. He gave a deep sigh as he quickly picked the pack of cigarettes from the ground, looking at Miyu with a slight smile as he stuffed the pack into a shirt pocket- throwing his jacket on his shoulder. Miyu gave him a slight nod as he started towards the door. “I don’t know what will happen in the next couple of days now so I may not come back for a while…” He gave a slight wave as he walked out and Hyde could be heard yelling at the person he was on the phone with.
“I just came from there! I’m…” There was a pause before Gackt grabbed Hyde’s jacket from another chair. “It’ll take me an hour to get back there! The traffic was-” The door clicked back into place as Gackt left- holding out Hyde’s jacket for him to grab. Hyde looked up at Gackt for a second before grabbing the jacket and sighing, nodding as apparently he gave into the person on the other line- following Gackt down the hall.
Miyu quietly pulled her tray towards her and ate her meal in silence- shock still treading through her as she attempted to make sense of the situation now- knowing it was not some pure hallucination of her mind before she suddenly thought of how real hallucinations could be. She gave a deep sigh- leaning her head against her hand as she stopped eating- eyes closed tightly. She quickly focused her mind back at the plate and continued eating despite her stomach attempting to tie itself into knots now.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Miyu lay staring at the ceiling- bored and unable to go to sleep as the moonlight drifted across the room. All the days’ events became more and more surreal as she thought back on it- eyes closing as she attempted to doze but she sighed as she failed and her eyes flicked back open. She carefully pulled herself up a bit and glanced around the darkened room before messing with the sidebars on the bed- slipping one downwards and nervously looking at the ground.
Slipping one fair leg off the side, she let her foot rest on the floor, wincing at the cold feel before allowing her other foot to touch the ground. She closed her eyes as she let herself get used to the ground before beginning to pull herself up from the bed- swaying gently on her feet for a second as her strength began to come back quickly. A slight smile appeared on her face before she sat back down, slightly tired again.
“I’ll be happy to get out of here…” She laid back down- eyes closing tightly, “…away from all these hallucinations and dreams…” She slowly fell away into a deep sleep- memories flickering before her closed eyes.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Miyu stared up at the cloudless sky as she came ‘around’ in her dream- feeling an electric shot running through her body.
“I have a heartbeat!” The male voice called out as she felt a hand caress her face and she let her head turn slightly to see the Japanese woman there.
“Good- you’re back with us…” She spoke softly as Miyu could vaguely sense that she was in pain.
“Gacchan- you need to go with! Your arm is-”
  “I can get there-”
“Sir, we can take another, you can ride with. Usually it would be family-”
“She’s slipping!” Miyu could feel a hitch in her chest as she felt herself being moved.
“Go!” The metal ceiling of an ambulance was above her now- white, electric lights gleaming downwards. Her eyes closed again as she felt another hitch in her chest. She felt everything beginning to fade away again as she felt an electric charge run through her body again.
“Clear!” Another charge ran though her body and she distantly felt herself shiver as a sense of movement took over. A sharp pain echoed from her arm suddenly but it was accompanied by the quick fading away feeling as she came around.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Miyu blinked at the sunlight- realizing that she had launched herself up and was clutching at her chest- the heart monitor beeping a wild rhythm. Sweat ran from her face as she attempted to calm herself from the memories still flickering across her mind. The beeping slowly became regular again and she looked around the room.
The chairs were empty and her small closet closed as Miyu glanced at the ground- choosing to push the side bar down and swing her legs over the side again. She rested her feet upon the floor again- feeling the cold overtake them as she stood. Her eyes were drawn to the door as it opened- a green-clad nurse stepping inside with a small cart, vials of blood sitting in it. The nurse nearly jumped at seeing her up- tentatively taking a step forward.
“Miss… Alkit?” Miyu gave a slight smile- nodding.
“Uh… how long have I been here?” Miyu carefully spoke- making sure none of her original American accent appeared in her speech. The nurse paused and appeared to think for a second.
“About a week and a half now Ms. Alkit…” Miyu’s eyes widened at her answer before her head fell slightly and she nodded.
“…Th-Thank you…” Miyu watched the nurse run back though the door- quickly disappearing from sight. Miyu quietly sat back down- cursing a little to herself as she thought of her apartment problems and the bills that would arise from this hospital trip before the nurse returned with a doctor.
“How are you today?” The older man smiled slightly- glancing at a clipboard he had picked up somewhere between walking in and stopping to stand beside Miyu. A slightly tired smile lifted her lips as she replied in her best fashion- knowing that she might get out sooner.
